The Race

The route

The race will start in Lecco over a route that will take athletes across the northern Italian and Swiss Pre Alps, the foothills of the Alps, via four turnpoints before arriving in Suello. To complete the route in time athletes must show their flying and mountaineering experience, their strength and stubbornness as well as their endurance.

Scurbatt Club has a 25 years’ experience in the organization of paragliding competitions.With his 250 associates is one of the bigger Free Fly Associations in our country.

Race Director

Paragliding pilot with a long experience: in 2010 he establishes the record for a FAI triangle flying over Appennino. He has a recognised experience in Hike&Fly competitions: in 2009 he participated in Red bull X-Alps.

Costantino Molteni

Weatherman

Paragliding pilot, his skills come from his passion for Flying. He is the creator of the famous App Buk-App Bollettino, downloaded from almost all pilots of North Italy. He teaches some lessons on the weather analysis in many different clubs.

3. Macugnaga Monte Rosa

The westernmost point of the race lies near the town of Macugnaga, the renowned ski resort at the foot of Monte Rosa. Stunning views of the Monte Rosa range as well as many other 4000+ peaks.
200 km separate TP2 from TP3 Bormio, the easternmost point of the race.

4. Bormio

With TP2 in the bag, pilots will have more than one way to get to Valtellina. Pilots will follow in awe the entire valley length soaring above 3000+ peaks before getting to Bormio. Bormio, well known ski resort, lies at the very end of the valley.

5. Passo della Presolana

The last turnpoint of the race faces the Pizzo della Presolana, one of the most magnificent and climbed peak of the Orobie Alps. Strong valley wind will make progress difficult just before TP4. Definitely one of the hardest section of the race.

6. Suello (goal)

The landing field lies in between Lake Annone and Lake Pusiano. The last 60 km from TP 4 onward see the rocky landscape give way to the pre alps.
It’s not going to be a joke to hike and fly the 450 Km in just one week!

The idea behind this competition came to life in the summers of 2017, following the great results of some members of the paragliding Club Scurbatt in another competition, the Dolomiti Superfly as well as the renowned attitude of our Club Scurbatt for organizing flying competition.
